Rhondda Labour Party Welsh Government Minister Leighton Andrews AM and Kevin Morgan (Secretary of Rhondda Labour Party) were among many Labour Councillors and Members who supported RCT Public Sector Workers on the picket lines in the Rhondda and at the march and rally in Cardiff on November 30th.
The Tory/Lib Dem Government want Public Sector Workers to work longer; pay more contributions into the pension pot and to receive less on their retirement. What the ConDem Government fail to make clear is that the 3% extra contributions will not go towards boosting the pension pot but will instead be given straight to the Treasury to reduce the UK debt.
This Tory/Lib Dem Government need to get back to the negotiating table and give a little to help bring fairness to this situation.

Rhondda Labour’s Centenary events concluded on 3rd December with a History Day School put on by Llafur – the Society for the Study of Welsh Labour History – at Coleg Morgannwg, Llwynypia.
Dr Chris Williams of Swansea University presented “The X factor – Rhondda Politics from Mabon to Mainwaring”, the fascinating story of Labour’s rise to political domination and of the individuals who served as MPs in Rhondda, Rhondda East and Rhondda West.
“The Life and Times of Elizabeth Andrews” was presented by Audrey Griffiths (Pictured Left), a great-niece of Welsh Labour’s first Women’s Organiser, who lived in Ystrad. It was a fascinating and moving account of Mrs Andrews’s contribution to the Labour Movement in the Rhondda and beyond.
Chris Bryant MP and Leighton Andrews AM also gave interesting talks which were enjoyed by all present.
Pull-up banners charting Rhondda’s political tradition, the birth of Rhondda Labour Party, the role played by women and how Labour has fought for the Rhondda through Local Government, were unveiled on the day and are now on display at Rhondda Labour’s HQ - Oxford House, Tonypandy.

The Rhondda Labour Party is opposed to the temporary closure of the Minor Injuries Unit at Llwynypia and demands that the Local Health Board reopens it.
This is one of Wales's newest hospitals. Taking services away from our community is unacceptable.
We understand that this is not a financial matter. But why has the Local Health Board failed to plan for the necessary numbers of doctors and Emergency Nurse Practitioners to staff both facilities?
There are many questions to be answered including:
What does 'temporary' mean?
When does the Local Health Board plan to re-open it?
Can you give us a cast iron guarantee that the unit
will re-open when you have more staff?
We urge people to SIGN OUR PETITION!
